Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Fair Trade Stall

The second weekend of the month

On the 2nd weekend of every month, except August, our Fair Trade Stall is in the hall after Saturday 6.30pm Mass and Sunday morning Masses until the start of the 12:30 Mass.  The March one is in Fair Trade Fortnight and is open after every Sunday Mass. Our profits go to Cafod.

From April 2016 the dates are:

April 9th and 10th
May 14th and 15th
June 11th and 12th
2017 July 9th and 10th
September 10th and 11th
October 8th and 9th
November 12th and 13th
December 10th and 11th
January 14th & 15th 2017
February 11th and 12th 2017
March 18th & 19th 2017

Our best sellers, almost always in stock, include coffee, tea, sugar, rice, pasta, honey, cereal, marmalade, biscuits, cereal bars and dried fruit. We also have a large variety of chocolate bars and packs of sweets such as Vanilla Fudge. In March we sell chocolate “Real Easter” eggs with the Easter story in and in December Chistmas cards and nativity sets. We stock toys, cleaning products, jewellery, scarves and other colourful and/or useful non food items.

We have catalogues from leading fair trade supplier, Traidcraft, from which parishioners have bought clothes, toys and other attractive items via our stall, so you save postage and we give our wholesale discount to Cafod.

The Fairtrade symbol certification guarantees that the farmers and craftspeople receive a fair and sustainable price for what they grow or make and that employees enjoy safe working conditions and are paid a living wage.

If you want more information or to volunteer to help run the stall after your regular Mass please ask any volunteer on the stall or contact Michael or Marian McGowan on 8888 1276 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

On Remembrance Sunday the Scouts assemble in the hall before processing into the 9:45 mass. This will be on the Fair Trade weekend and is no problem to us or the scouts as there’s little if any selling prior to masses.

As the CAFOD talk accompanies the Family Fast day collection on 11th and 12th March, our stall will be the following weekend, the third weekend that month. This will be a week after Fair Trade fortnight ends but if are able to give a talk we can say Fair Trade fortnight has just ended.

On Palm Sunday the blessing of the palms before the 9:45 mass takes place in the hall so we shall be ready to temporarily close the stall and cover the tables which may be set up away from their usual place near the door that weekend.
