FR DAVID WRITES
Congratulations and well done again to the children who made their First Confessions last Saturday. Next Saturday will be the celebration of the First Holy Communions. Please pray for the children and their families. Please also pray for those who are to be ordained to the priesthood this weekend at the cathedral: Timothy Mangatal, William Johnstone, Jakub Joszko, and Marco Salvagnini. Best wishes to you all.

SOLEMNITY OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL, APOSTLES
This Tuesday, 29th June, is the Solemnity of St Peter and St Paul, Apostles. Normally this feast would be a Holy Day of Obligation. Of course, this year the obligation remains removed as it is not possible for everyone to fulfil it. Next Sunday we will take the second collection for Peter's Pence, which helps the work of the Holy Father and the Holy See.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BENEDICT XVI
On Tuesday, the whole Church will join in thanksgiving with the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his ordination. Pope Benedict, 94, was born in 1927. He was ordained priest in Freising, Bavaria, on 29th June 1951. He became Archbishop of Munich in 1977, and was elected Pope on 19th April 2005. He retired from office and became Pope Emeritus on 28th February 2013. We send him prayerful good wishes in thanksgiving to God for his remarkable life and ministry.

A reminder for all concerned that the EU Settlement Scheme expires very soon on 30th June. If you haven't done so already, and think this might apply to you, please look into this before Wednesday. The scheme may apply if you are a citizen of another EU or EEA country, or Swiss. You can find our more information here:

LOCAL FOOD BANK
A huge thank you to those who continue to donate every week.  It really is appreciated enormously by the families that use the foodbank.  Some of the following items are running low:
Washing liquid for clothes, shampoo/shower gel, kitchen cleaner, Dettol spray, hand soap, washing up liquid, 4 pack toilet rolls, instant coffee and team, tinned meat/tuna/tomatoes, pasta sauce, rice, pasta cereal, nappies size 5, sanitary products and toothpaste.

On a related note, can we kindly ask that people do not bring old clothes and leave them in the church. We cannot take these and have no facilities for dealing with them, especially so in these restricted circumstances. Please take them to a charity shop or another facility that can accept them.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION COURSE
The 11 am Mass today Sunday is for candidates for First Holy Communion and their families only.  Thank you for your co-operation and patience.

THANK YOU FROM FR ANDREW
