FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the solemnity of Corpus Christi (the Body and Blood of Christ) when we celebrate and give thanks for the gift of the Risen Christ who is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is the dynamic presence of the Risen One among us, his gift as our way to the Cross and our salvation. Friday is the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart, a beautiful day which celebrates the love of Christ for us in his broken heart. Our special Mass here will be at 6.30pm, followed by the barbecue. Please join us this week in our Eucharistic Congress as a way to celebrate and to receive the manifold graces of the Holy Year.

POPE FRANCIS: ‘DILEXIT NOS’
Before the heart of Jesus, living and present, our mind, enlightened by the Spirit, grows in the understanding of his words, and our will is moved to put them into practice. This could easily remain on the level of a kind of self-reliant moralism. However, hearing and tasting the Lord, and paying him due honour, is a matter of the heart. Only the heart is capable of setting our other powers and passions, and our entire person, in a stance of reverence and loving obedience before the Lord. It is only by starting from the heart that our communities will succeed in uniting and reconciling differing minds and wills, so that the Spirit can guide us in unity as brothers and sisters. Reconciliation and peace are also born of the heart. The heart of Christ is ‘ecstasy’, openness, gift and encounter. In that heart, we learn to relate to one another in wholesome and happy ways, and to build up in this world God’s kingdom of love and justice. Our hearts, united with the heart of Christ, are capable of working this social miracle.
