FR TOM WRITES
Today we hear Jesus telling us to pray always and never lose heart. Many times we misunderstand prayer; we use prayer simply to ask God for things. However, prayer is fundamentally our opportunity to deepen our relationship with Him. Prayer is not something achieved by the flick of a switch but a process and a relationship which requires perseverance and faith. Let us persevere with prayer in our hearts, in our families, and in our community, confident that God’s love will never fail.
OCTOBER - MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
October is the month of the Holy Rosary. Please join us in church every weekday morning (Monday to Friday) at 9.30am to pray the mysteries of the Rosary.
RCIA - JOURNEY IN FAITH
This course is for people who want to become Catholics. The group will meet until Easter when those who are ready come forward for initiation. Please speak to Fr Tom if you are interested in joining the new group. Application deadline: 26th October.
HOLY SOULS
November will be the month of the Holy Souls. This year, All Souls’ Day is the annual commemoration of all the faithful departed. This year, it be on Monday 3 November. Sheets and envelopes are available in the church porch for the lists of the faithful departed. Please return the sheet and envelope with names of our departed loved ones so that we can compile our Book of Remembrance. You are also kindly asked to include an offering which covers the celebration of Masses in November for the Holy Souls. May they all rest in peace. Amen.

The next Veneramus prayer evening is here on Monday 20 October at 7.30pm.

FAIR TRADE STALL
October’s Fair Trade stall opens after all Sunday masses this weekend on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October and will include some Christmas items.

Please keep an eye out for the applications for Year 9 Confirmations. As there is no area bishop at the moment, we are waiting for further information from the diocese about dates and the procedure for this coming year.
OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Governors invite applications for reception class children who reach their 4th birthday between 1 September 2025 and 3 August 2026. Reception applications should be submitted by 15 January 2026. Governors also invite applications for nursery for children who have reached their 3rd birthday. Children can be admitted to nursery class from the day they turn 3 years old, subject to availability.
