FR DAVID’S ANNIVERSARY
Congratulations to Fr David who celebrates twelve years since his ordination today (Sunday). He was ordained on 22nd November 2008 by Cardinal Cormac at Westminster Cathedral. Also ordained on that day was Fr Kevin Moule—happy anniversary Fr Kevin.

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
Today is the Feast of Christ the King. This is the final Sunday of the Church’s liturgical year. There are now only the weekdays of this coming week until we end the year completely. That means next Sunday, 29th November, will be the First Sunday of Advent and the beginning of a new cycle in the Church’s calendar (the Sunday readings will be taken from ‘Year B’ - the Year of St Mark). The Feast of Christ the King is a celebration of the sovereign rule of Christ who reigns from the Cross, and of the values of God’s heavenly kingdom. The Gospel today—the parable of the last judgement—gives us an insight into those values. Mother Theresa once commented, ‘We will not be judged on how successful we have been; we will be judged on how much we have loved.’

THE WORLD IN PRAYER
This weekend there should have been the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest. Obviously it has been postponed. The congress would traditionally end with the huge Mass celebrated by the Pope which is known as the ‘Statio Orbis’ - a moment for the whole world. This year, instead, the Pope invites all Christians this weekend to join in a special time of prayer for humanity in the struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic—to form a living ‘statio orbis’ uniting the world in prayer. Here there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after Mass on Sunday (today) from 10.30am till 12.00pm. Please do come and join in this prayer for all of humanity!

RED WEDNESDAY
This coming Wednesday, 25th November, is known as ‘Red Wednesday’. This is a special day of awareness and prayer for the suffering Church throughout the world. In particular, we are called to pray for Christians who are persecuted for their faith. Here, our church will be lit in red. On that day, we will pray at Mass for our persecuted brothers and sisters. After Mass, there will be exposition of the Holy Eucharist for this special intention. The church will be open after Mass (12.30pm-2pm) if you would like to come and pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament for the persecuted Church.

ONLINE CAROL SERVICE
We have almost finished our filming in the local area for the online Carol Service which we are preparing in conjunction with St Paul’s CoE Parish. Thank you to everyone involved—including technical help, readers, singers, musicians and children. We hope to have the great ‘reveal’ on Sunday 13th December when it should (please God) appear on YouTube.

CHRISTMAS
We are holding meetings and making plans for how Christmas will work in the parish. We hope to be able to explain those details when the church reopens near the beginning of December.
