FR DAVID WRITES

I hope that everyone had a good start to the new term at school or college this week. Welcome back if you have returned recently from your summer holidays. Last week, we welcomed back the 11.15am Music Group, and today the Choir returns to the 9.45am Mass. Thank you singers and musicians for your contribution to the liturgy.

CANONISATIONS

Today the Diocese of Westminster along with the universal Church rejoices at the canonisations in Rome of Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Pope Leo XIV will declare them to be saints and at the same time raise them to the glory of the altar. Carlo was born in London in 1991 and was baptised at Our Lady of Dolours in Chelsea. He became an apostle of the Eucharist and evangelised the internet. He died with leukaemia in Italy in 2006. He is known as the ‘first millennial saint’. The canonisation was delayed because of the death of the late Holy Father, Pope Francis. May the new saints pray for us!
