Roll up, roll up, this weekend is your last chance to buy advance tickets for next Saturday's big event, Opera Singers and Other Strange Beasts (tickets will be available on the door, though). All the money raised will be going towards church renovations.
The programme for the night includes performances by Nigel Blomiley (ex BBC Concert Orchestra) and his amazing cello, Piero Mattei (Royal Opera House) and Robin Stapleton (Royal Opera House) from among the parish's professional musicians, plus two potential stars of the future (see them here first) Phillip Donnelly on double bass and Amaya Pitharas (soprano). Regulars at the 11.15 Mass will recognise the latter two. In addition, the massed ranks of our two choirs will join in unison.
The evening's highlights will include Piero singing 'Toreador' from Carmen and Verdi's 'Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves'. So be there or be somewhere else.
