Please take a Christmas card from the back of church which details the times of Masses and celebrations over the Christmas and New Year period. Thank you to everyone who came to our parish party on Friday evening—it was a special opportunity for us to say thank you for the generosity shown by our volunteers and parishioners. Thanks also go to everyone who came to or helped with the Bernadette Club Christmas dinner on Thursday afternoon, and the refreshments served after our Sacrament of the Sick Mass yesterday (Saturday). This weekend you are invited to sign our CAFOD Climate Change Petition—see the note opposite. I hope that you can continue to savour the Advent season in all its richness as we prepare to celebrate the feast of the Lord’s nativity.
SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
Monday is the feast of Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception. Whilst not a holyday of obligation it is nevertheless a lovely day on which to come to Mass if you can.
TUESDAY MORNING MASS—9.30 am
As the priests will be attending the Deanery meeting on Tuesday morning, Masses will be at 8 am and 9.30 am.
GENERAL ELECTION—THURSDAY 12 DECEMBER
The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have released a statement regarding this week’s General Election. Copies are available to collect from the church porch.
PARISH SOUP LUNCH FOR CAFOD
This coming Thursday, 12th December, we are holding a soup lunch (‘hunger lunch’) in aid of CAFOD at 12 noon in the hall –all are welcome. Please join us and make a donation.

TINS FOR THE HOMELESS IN ADVENT
This year we will be collecting tins of food (particularly potatoes and tomatoes) for the homeless. The box will be at the back of the Church. Please don’t bring other items—only tinned foods.
OUR COMMON HOME—CLIMATE CHANGE PETITION
The government’s present target to reach Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 may be too late. Please sign our petition this weekend, asking the new Prime Minister to work towards reaching Zero Emissions by 2045. Your personal information will be completely secure and no one will contact you.
FAIR TRADE CHRISTMAS COFFEE
Awake on Christmas morning to the smell of Fair Trade coffee - made by your partner or teenager of course - what treat will you choose to go with it? The stall is in the hall until after the 12.30 Mass.
CONFESSIONS BEFORE CHRISTMAS
There will be short Penitential Service with individual confessions on Friday morning, 20th December, starting at 10.30am, after the 10am Mass. For those who cannot make that, there will be confessions in church on Saturday 21st December at 10.30am and 5.30pm with two priests at each session. Well done to the children in our primary school who celebrated their Advent Reconciliation services on Thursday.
