LAETARE SUNDAY - MOTHERING SUNDAY
Today is the Fourth Sunday of Lent, known as Laetare Sunday, and is a day of rejoicing at the mid-point of the Lenten season. As you know, today is also Mothering Sunday or Mothers' Day. We send our best wishes to everyone on this special day but, of course, especially to all mothers. We give thanks to God for mothers and pray for them in their special calling - we hope you all have a lovely day! We also pray to God for all mothers who have already gone to heaven, and for those who remember them with so much love.
FEASTS THIS WEEK
Wednesday is the Feast of St Patrick and Friday is the Solemnity of St Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This year, St Joseph's Day has even more added meaning as we celebrate the Year of St Joseph and recall his special title of Patron of the Universal Church. Each day this week we will say a special prayer to St Joseph at the end of Mass as a form of novena before his great feast. May St Patrick and St Joseph pray for us.
PASSIONTIDE - CHRISM MASS
Next Sunday, the Fifth Sunday of Lent, is beginning of Passiontide - the inner part of Lent. These days will take us to Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. The Chrism Mass usually takes place on the Tuesday of Holy Week. This year, it will go ahead as usual with a group of priests. Unfortunately, it will not be possible for parishioners to travel from here to be part of the congregation. However, it will be livestreamed from Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday 30th March at 12 noon.
FOOD BANK
We are pleased to say that we are working with our neighbours at St Paul's Church New Southgate, St Paul's Primary School and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School on the food bank project. They are looking for volunteers to help on Monday afternoons—
You must not be in any of the 'at risk' categories for COVID-19, and be able to commit at least once a month for two hours. We will provide the simple training you'll need. Please get in touch if you're interested with Father Matt Harbage (Vicar): 07746 444179 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
PROCEDURE AT CHURCH
The Covid-secure procedures continue at here at church. Please stay away if you have any symptoms or if it is safer to stay at home. Please use the hand sanitiser on the way in, and wear the face covering inside the church. We must all observe social distancing inside the church, and there can be no mixing or mingling before or after Mass. Thank you.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR HOLY WEEK & EASTER
Tickets will be available for Holy Week services after all Masses this weekend. Initially, it will only be possible to take a ticket for one part of the Triduum (i.e. EITHER Maundy Thursday or Good Friday or the Easter Vigil). After that, if there are remaining tickets spare, we will then make them available again. You can also take a ticket for Easter Sunday. It will not be necessary to have a ticket for Palm Sunday but if the church reaches capacity we will have to close the doors. Thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation. As always, all the celebrations will be livestreamed.
