FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the solemnity of Christ, the Universal King. This is the last Sunday in Ordinary Time and the final Sunday in the Church’s calendar. Next Sunday will mark the beginning of a new liturgical cycle as we begin the First Sunday of Advent. Today (Sunday), please do visit our Christmas Market in the parish hall. With many thanks to those who have worked hard to organise this lovely event. If you would like to support Red Wednesday this week please do come to 10am Mass and exposition on Wednesday morning—wear something red!? There will also be an opportunity today for you to take Aid to the Church in Need information or to give towards their work. Have a lovely Sunday and a great week—best wishes to you all.

CHRISTMAS MARKET
Please visit our Christmas Market in the Parish Hall today after the first three morning Masses.  We’ve got a great selection of Christmas gifts as well as a Christmas raffle.  Do come along and join us for coffee and mince pies.  All money raised will go to help parish funds—thank you.

VIRGIN MONEY GIVING (VMG)
In lockdown, we opened a VMG account. However, VMG is now closing down so this means of giving will not operate any longer.  If you are able to Gift Aid your Offertory it helps the parish immensely as we can claim back the tax you have already paid on it.  However, to do this we need to record your name and address, which we can only do via planned giving envelopes, or a standing order.  Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to know more.

NEW HANDRAILS & CHURCH HEATING
As you can see, we have installed some attractive and useful handrails outside the main church doors. However, please feel free to use the porch route if you prefer a way out without steps. As many of you know (or can feel!) we are continuing to have problems with the church heating. The blowers were turned off last year for Covid safety and until recently the heating has been working well without them. The engineers have been several times to make repairs but the problem has not yet been fully identified or remedied. We have a new plan so please keep praying that we can resolve the issue this week!

NEW SOUTHGATE PARISH FOOD BANK
The food bank is now operating from St Paul’s CoE Church Hall on Wednesdays 2.30pm-4pm. No vouchers or referral needed. Tea/coffee at the same time at the ‘World Café’.
