FR DAVID WRITES
Happy Pentecost Sunday! Today is the climax of the Easter season and the great feast of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. Next Sunday will be the solemnity of the Holy Trinity, and the following Sunday will be Corpus Christi. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Jubilee weekend so far. Please join us in the hall this morning (Sunday) for a little celebration after the 10am and 11.15am Masses. Also today at the 11.15 Mass, we will bless the new flags for our Scouts groups. This Bishop will be here on Friday for the school 50th anniversary—please note that there is no 10am Mass on Friday as it will be replaced by the parish Mass at 2.30pm. Please join us. Have a wonderful feast and a great week.
CONFIRMATION MASS
Bishop Sherrington will also celebrate Mass here at 7pm on Friday during which he will Confirm our young people who have been preparing recently. Please keep these young people and their families in your prayers as they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

COMING TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS (AND SATURDAY VIGILS)
Sunday is the Lord’s Day, the day of Christ’s resurrection. The first Christians said, ‘Without Sunday we cannot live!’ It is a privilege for those who are able, to be present at the Sunday Eucharist. There are some copies of the statement from the Bishops of England and Wales regarding the restoration of the Sunday obligation. Please take one for yourself or for others. This is a return to the pre-pandemic situation. For those who are elderly, sick, workers, or those otherwise morally unable to attend Mass, there is no sin in missing Mass. However, for those who are able to, the beauty and importance of this obligation can now be applied once more. (Saturday Vigil Masses also satisfy the obligation).

Prayer of the Catholic Bishops for the Platinum Jubilee
Almighty God, we pray
that your servant Elizabeth, our Queen,
who, by your providence has received the governance of this realm,
may continue to grow in every virtue,
that, imbued with your heavenly grace,
she may be preserved from all that is harmful and evil
and, being blessed with your favour
may, with the royal family,
come at last into your presence,
through Christ who is the way, the truth and the life
and who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
