FR TOM WRITES
On Saturday 16th November the Church commemorates St Edmund Abingdon, the 12th Century Archbishop of Canterbury. Whenever the feasts of British saints arise, it is a fantastic opportunity to pray for all the people who live on this island, especially those who have abandoned their faith in Jesus Christ.

CHRISTMAS AT THE PAPER SHOP
We have lots of lovely items which would make good Christmas presents as well as a large display of Christmas cards.  Please take a look in the shop, which is to your right as you enter the Parish Hall.  Open after all Masses on Sunday mornings only.

ADORATION & HOLY HOUR
Will take place on Wednesday after the 10am Mass to offer our prayers for the dignity of human life. In particular our focus is on the end of life and praying together in front of the Blessed Sacrament that assisted suicide will not become law in our lands.

THE HOLY SOULS IN NOVEMBER
The names will remain next to the Paschal Candle in church during this month, and we will celebrate Masses for the Holy Souls throughout November.  Mass for the Deceased Members of the Deanery is at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St George’s, Enfield, on Tuesday 12 November at 12 noon. The Mass for the Deceased Priests of the Diocese is on Tuesday 19 November, beginning at 5.30pm in Westminster Cathedral.

FORMATION FOR READERS
The new Lectionary for Mass will begin use on 30 November. We are inviting all our readers (weekdays and Sundays) to a special session on Saturday 16 November at 10.30am in church. The session will include formation, input, practical indications, details about the new Lectionary and help with public speaking. Please attend.

SICK & RETIRED PRIESTS’ COLLECTION
Next week the second collection will be for the sick and retired priests of our diocese.  Most Priests offer their resignation at 75, but many continue to serve in our schools, hospitals, hospices and parishes.  Last year, the Diocese of Westminster provided care to 72 Priests, at a cost of £976,000.  Caring for our brother Priests in their senior years, or at a time of illness, is a fundamental part of the mission of our diocese.  By supporting the Sick & Retired Priests’ Fund, you can help cover essential costs and give them peace of mind that in the event of an emergency, their needs will be met.  You will find an envelope at the back of the Church today.  Please take one, and if you are taxpayer, please complete the Gift Aid slip.

CHRISTMAS MARKET
The preparations for this year’s Christmas Market are already well in hand.  It will take place in the Parish Hall on 23rd/24th November after all Masses.  We welcome any books, fancy goods, jewellery etc.  Homemade cakes will be especially welcome on the day.  Last year the cake stall was the best ever, so a big thank you in advance.  Proceeds from the sale will complete the cost of the candlesticks for the altar.  Looking forward to seeing you all over the weekend.  Janet Butterworth.

OLOL SCHOOL CHRISTMAS FAYRE
Saturday 30th 12noon—3pm.  Please come and support our school.  There will be a range of tombola stalls, Santa’s grotto, home cooked food, arts & crafts, cakes, raffle and much more.  We would love to see you there.

FAIR TRADE
Next week's Fair Trade stall, after masses on 16th/17th November, is our Advent and Christmas event with festive food and items as well as our regular stock. Remaining "Real Advent, fair trade chocolate Calendars" are expected to sell after the first few masses.
