FR DAVID WRITES
On Thursday we attended the Farewell Mass for Bishop Sherrington. We send him off now to Liverpool with love, prayers and gratitude for his 14 years of ministry among us, and wish him well in his new diocese as he becomes archbishop. This coming Friday we have our first cohort of Confirmations. Please pray for those who will be confirmed, and for their families. The next group will be confirmed on Friday 6th June. As the Bishop has left for Liverpool, the confirmations will be celebrated by me. Have a great week and may God’s blessing be with us all.
THE HOLY FATHER
This morning (Sunday) will see the solemn Mass in Rome for the inauguration of Pope Leo’s pontificate. In fact, he became pope at the moment he accepted his canonical election in the conclave. However, it is traditional to mark the beginning of the pontificate with a special celebration in St Peter’s Square. He will receive the pallium which is a white band made from lambs’ wool which is worn by popes and metropolitan bishops—a sign of the Good Shepherd. Please pray for our new Pope as he undertakes his immense responsibilities with the help of the Holy Spirit.
VENERAMUS
Please join us on Monday evening at 7:30pm in Church for Veneramus. We gather for a time of prayer, adoration, music, teaching and confession.
