Today, Jesus speaks about the values of God’s kingdom. This reveals something wonderful to us about what God is like. Let us ask for the gift to be both poor and pure in heart so that there may be space for God’s Word to dwell in our hearts.
CANDLEMAS: THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
Monday is the Feast of the Lord’s Presentation, the fortieth day since the celebration of Christmas. Please join us at 10 am Mass to celebrate this special day which marks the end of the Christmas journey in the liturgy. Candles will be blessed at the start of Mass. If you have any new candles you would like blessed, please bring them with you to Mass.
ST BLAISE, BISHOP & MARTYR
Tuesday is the Feast of St Blaise. There will be the traditional blessing of throats after 10 am Mass on Tuesday, using the newly blessed candles. Please note that the blessing will be immediately after Mass (not all day) so please be there on time.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
This year, we will celebrate our parish patronal feast with a special Mass on the evening of Tuesday 10th February at 7 pm. This will be followed by a parish social event in the hall. Please make a note of the date and be sure to join us!
NEW HYMN BOOKS
Today we use our new hymn books for the first time, the up-to-date edition of ‘Celebration Hymnal for Everyone’. Their purchase was made possible by the generosity of all who supported our recent Christmas Market here. Thank you to Janet and her team, to all of you who supported them, for making this possible. Please take care of the new hymn books and treat them with love.
CARDINAL NICHOLS THANKSGIVING MASS
After 16 years as our archbishop, Cardinal Nichols is about to retire. A special Mass of Thanksgiving for Cardinal Nichols will be held at Westminster Cathedral on Thursday 5th February at 5.30 pm, and all are welcome. Please do also pray for our new archbishop, Archbishop Richard Moth, as he prepares to take up his new ministry.

In the cycle of prayer, today is a special day of prayer for racial justice.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2026
The next meeting for the children will take place on Saturday 7th February at 10am– 11.15am. The Family Mass will at 11.15am on Sunday 8th February.
CONFIRMATION 2026
The next meeting for candidates will take place on Saturday 7th February at 4.15pm-5.30pm, followed by Mass at 6pm.
BAPTISM
The next Baptism application will take place on Tuesday 10th February at 6.30pm in the Parish Centre.

If you would like to be added to the rota to help once a month with the church flowers please leave your name with the parish office.

Please note: when you arrive, if there are empty parking spaces available, they MUST be used before double/central parking will be allowed. Please try to be considerate and think of others. Parking is free for a max of 4 hours per day. For parish activities which last longer than this, please speak to the parish office.
BERNADETTE CLUB
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 5 February 2-4 pm in the parish centre. We will have news of forthcoming events and look forward to seeing you all then.
