Baruch 5: 1-9
Baruch echoes the message of Isaiah that God will enable us to walk safely on level ground.

Paul wants us to prepare for the Day of Christ.  His prayer for us is that we will always recognise what is best. 

Luke 3: 1-6
John the Baptist is the one who fulfils the prophecy about preparing a way for the Lord and shows us what needs to be done. 

Jeremiah 33: 14-16
We hear a prophecy that the Lord will fulfil his promise to Israel and Judah by providing a saviour through David’s line. 

1 Thessalonians 3: 12-4.2
Paul reminds the Christian community in Thessalonika to live the Christian life of love for all people. 

Luke 21: 25-28. 34-36
Jesus warns of troubled times ahead, with signs in the sky and great agony.  His followers must be alert and ready to face these happenings but can be confident of their liberation. 

Daniel 12: 1-3
The prophet Daniel tells of the end of the world and how some will be saved. 

Hebrews 10: 11-14. 18
Jesus has made just one sacrifice – himself.  This has done more than any of the sacrifices made by Priests.  Through Christ’s sacrifice he has achieved eternal perfection. 

Mark 13: 24-32
Jesus tells his followers of a dark time coming soon, when the Son of man will come in glory.  Nobody knows the day or hour, not even the Son himself. 

Daniel 7: 13-14
Daniel tells of a vision of the Lord returning as a glorious king.

Apocalypse 1: 5-8
The Apocalypse describes the risen Jesus returning as a mighty king.

John 18: 33-37
St John recounts the dialogue between Jesus and Pilate, Jesus is a king, but his kingdom is not of this world.

1 Kings 17: 10-16
In a time of famine a widow shows great faith in God’s word. 

Hebrews 9: 24-28
Christ offered himself completely to God to win our salvation. 

Mark 12: 38-44
In the pennies of those who are poor Jesus sees the integrity of faith.
