LENT 2017:
Lent offers us an opportunity to deepen the meaning and value of our Christian lives. In the Lenten period the Church makes it her duty to propose some specific tasks that accompany the faithful in this process of interior renewal: these are prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
DEVOTIONS FOR LENT
STATIONS OF THE CROSS:
Every Friday after the 10 am Mass and at 7.30 pm. We are looking for volunteers or groups to lead the Friday evening Stations of the Cross. Please sign the list in the Church Porch if you are able to help.
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
Monday – Friday 6.45 am – 7.45 am, and the first, third and fourth Sunday of Lent from 1.30 pm – 5.30 pm. Please sign the list in the Porch if you are able to watch during the exposition on Sundays.
LENTEN COLLECTION FOR THE HOMELESS:
We will be collecting tins and toiletries during Lent for Barnet Homeless Action. Please leave any donations in the box at the back of the Church – thank you.
CARDINAL’S APPEAL:
Envelopes are available at the back of the Church to support the Cardinal’s Lenten Appeal, which takes place next weekend. Please take an envelope home today and read about this important appeal, which helps fund evangelisation programmes, marriage and family life promotional efforts, and our presence in charitable works and service in society, especially among those on the margins.
TERESA CONNOR RIP:
The Requiem will take place on Monday 20th March at 10 am.
CONFIRMATION 2017:
The next session is on Saturday 18th March at 3.45 pm, starting with Reconciliation.
ST PATRICK’S DAY – 17th MARCH:
There will be Mass at 8 am, 10 am and 7 pm. Stations of the Cross will follow after the evening Mass.
PAPER SHOP:
There are St Patrick’s Day cards and badges and Confirmation, Communion and Easter cards all available from the Paper Shop, which you will find on your left as you enter the Parish Hall.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK:
This will take place on Saturday 18th March at 2.30 pm. Please note that there will not be a 10 am Mass or Confessions that morning. Evening Confessions will be as usual.
PLANNED GIVING SCHEME:
It would be a great help to the parish if you are able to donate your Offerings each week through the Planned Giving envelope scheme or by Standing Order. If you pay UK Income Tax you are eligible to offer Gift Aid of a further 25% of your donation, which we can reclaim from the Tax Office at no inconvenience to yourself. Application forms are in the porch at the back of the church. Thank you.
