WELCOME
Welcome (back) to Monsignor Tom Egan and Fr Mark Walker who are helping Fr David this weekend. We also welcome Deacon David Knight and Deacon Ian Coleman.

FR DAVID WRITES
Eastertide reached its climactic end at Pentecost. Since then we have been celebrating a series of feasts which have carried us into Ordinary Time: Holy Trinity, Corpus Christi and Saints Peter and Paul. Today we finally return to the ‘green’ of Ordinary Time. The liturgical colour green represents God’s world which grows secretly and comes to maturity as it slowly bears fruit. During these summer weeks may we grow too, in our faith and our friendship with God, and produce a magnificent harvest in ‘fruit that will last’ (Jn 15:16).  Next weekend I will be in Rome for the ordination of deacons at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Palazzola. Please pray for Alex Balzanella from our diocese who will be ordained.

SAFEGUARDING
We mentioned recently that Maggie Nagle has taken on the Parish Safeguarding role.  We will shortly begin the process of updating all DBSs held by parishioners, beginning with catechists. If you are a catechist please contact Maggie regarding the potential renewal of your DBS. Her updated email address is on the front of this sheet. Other groups and ministries, notice will be given in due course - this is an operation which will take some time.  I'm very grateful to Maggie for her generosity in undertaking this role and for the work of our catechists.  Fr David.

SEA SUNDAY
Next week is Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea.  There will be a second collection for Apostleship of the Sea, the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church.  It provides practical and spiritual support to seafarers visiting our ports.  As it is dependent on voluntary donations, please give as generously as you can, and if you can Gift Aid please do so.  Envelopes are available at the back of the church.  For information  please visit www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
