FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) when we celebrate the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. We are reminded by two beautiful phrases of what this means for us. First: 'We become what we receive'. When we receive the Body of Christ, the Lord comes to us in the most special way. The Eucharist builds up the Church every day to become more and more the Body of Christ. The Church, Christ's Body, is alive because Christ is risen from the dead. Second: 'Adore what you receive'. The lasting presence of Christ in the Eucharist means we have the opportunity to adore the Eucharistic Lord who feeds us and builds us up. Today (Sunday) there will be exposition of the Holy Eucharist after the 12pm Mass until 2pm. Please do join in this special time of prayer if you are able to. It is also an opportunity to join in our worldwide moment of prayer, united with Catholics everywhere, in lieu of the much-postponed International Eucharistic Congress which is now due to take place in Budapest in September.
ST ANNE'S HIGH SCHOOL
This Wednesday, Year 11 pupils at St Anne's will celebrate a special Mass with Fr David in thanksgiving for reaching the end of Key Stage 4. Please keep the pupils and staff in your prayers at the end of this time and as they prepare to move forward.
CHURCH HALL
Some groups have now been able to return to activities in the hall. At the present moment, this is done by assessment of risk and other measures. If restrictions are lifted, more opportunities will become available.
MONEY & COUNTING TEAMS
Since the lockdown, we have made some changes in the routine so that money operations are simpler and more secure for helpers. Counting will now take place on Monday mornings in the new counting room (old paper shop). The parish office will be contacting our counting volunteers to try to create a new rota. Ideally, 4 or more teams would be useful. Please contact the parish office if you are unsure or don't hear from us.
MASS TIMES
Thank you to those who responded to the invitation to write about Mass times with useful reflections and ideas. This week, there will be an opportunity for the local parishes to discuss this matter at the deanery meeting on Tuesday. No one really knows yet what will happen on 21st June or how the lifting of restrictions will be applied to churches, which makes planning more complicated. However, when the Mass times are settled, we will be in a position to restore some rotas for ministries e.g. readers, Eucharistic ministers, counters, and other social activities connected with Masses etc. Some groups have already had contact consulting on some of these ministries - more information to follow when things become clearer.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CANDIDATES - 11AM MASS
The Communion Masses for candidates will resume on Sunday 13th & 20th June.

LOCAL FOOD BANK
The new enterprise of the local food bank has been most welcome. The growing need in our locality has been remarkable and we are pleased that we have been able to collaborate with our neighbours in responding. Thank you to everyone who has brought food since the beginning of Lent. A big thank you to members of our parish who have kindly stepped up as volunteers at St Paul's and to Fr Matt for coordinating. You can still bring items to our church. The food is now taken to St Paul's on Friday mornings, which is the same day the donations are taken from our primary school. There is a poster in the church porch about accessing the food bank. It is open at St Paul's CoE Church, Woodland Road, every Monday 3pm-4.45pm - no referral needed.
