FR DAVID WRITES
Thank you to everyone who came to Fr Johnson’s Farewell Mass and social. It was lovely to say thank you to Father Johnson and to prepare to send him off with our best wishes and prayers. His leaving date has been put back slightly, and he will now go a week or two later. Thanks also to everyone for our Going Forth Mass celebrated last Sunday with the First Holy Communion children and families. Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, and next Sunday is Corpus Christi (the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord). God bless you all.
NEW SOUTHGATE CEMETERY MASS
The annual Mass at New Southgate Cemetery chapel will take place on Saturday 22nd June at 11am. The blessing of graves at Southgate Cemetery (Waterfall Road) will also take place on Saturday 22nd June at 12.30pm.
8AM MASSES
As mentioned last weekend, we will endeavour to keep as many 8am Masses as possible. However, we need to recognise that this will not be possible everyday and certainly not when there is only one priest here (e.g. holidays).
MAY
May is the month of Mary. Please join us at 9.30 am every weekday morning—Monday to Friday—to pray the rosary in church. This coming Friday (the end of May) is the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
BERNADETTE CLUB
The next meeting of the Bernadette Club will take place on Thursday 6th June when we look forward to seeing you.
BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY & HALF TERM
Monday is a Bank Holiday. Mass here will be at 10 am only. This week is also the half-term holiday. Please note that the Parish Office will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday and also on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The open days will be Thursday and Friday. Have a wonderful half-term.
EPISCOPAL ORDINATION
The ordination of Monsignor Jim Curry as Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday 18 June at 12 noon. The main celebrant will be the Cardinal, joined by the other bishops and priests of our diocese. All are welcome at the celebration.
STONE WORK IN THE CHURCH
Further work was conducted in the sanctuary this week. The builders will be back in a week or so once the stone and cement has dried, to make further progress.
SUNDAY TEA & COFFEE
Please join us in the hall after 8.30, 9.45 and 11.15 Masses on Sunday morning for tea, coffee, biscuits, and an opportunity to chat with other parishioners. Thank you to those who help to run the tea and coffee every week— it is much appreciated by everyone.
GENERAL ELECTION
As you will have seen in the news, the Prime Minister has called a General Election to take place on Thursday 4th July. The church hall here has been designated again as a polling station. Please look out for guidance coming from the bishops on important social issues which may help your decision making before the election. More to follow.
OUR LADY OF LOURDES SCHOOL
Help our school get £1,500. Our school has applied for a grant from Tesco to upgrade the infant playground. We will be up against other schools and whoever gets the most votes will win the £1,500. To vote you need to shop at Tesco and ask for the blue token when you check out. We will be in local stores—Colney Hatch Lane, Hampden Square, Whetstone and others from April to June—thank you.
