FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (also known as Corpus Christi) when we celebrate the gift of the Eucharist – the abiding and dynamic presence of the Risen Lord among us. This coming Friday is the lovely solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There is no Friday abstinence this week thanks to the Lord’s feast. We hope you had a nice half-term and wish you all every blessing.
JUNE
June is the month of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In this coming month of ordinations, please also pray for Mgr Jim Curry who will be ordained bishop on Tuesday 18 June; for the young men who will be ordained deacons on Saturday 15 June; and the deacons who will be ordained priests on Saturday 29 June.
GENERAL ELECTION & RESOURCES
Catholic resources for the coming general election are now available on the websites of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales; the SVP; and CAFOD. Please take a look at this helpful material. A reminder that the hall here will be a polling station on Thursday 4 July.
FR JOHNSON
Father’s last full day with us will be Saturday 8 June. We wish him well and will keep him in our prayers. His successor as chaplain to Latin Rite Keralan Catholics has already begun his ministry and is based in St Raphael’s Parish, Yeading, in the Deanery of Ealing.
TOILET FACILITIES
Please use the parish centre toilets rather than the church toilet—if possible!
NEW SOUTHGATE CEMETERY MASS
The annual Mass at New Southgate Cemetery chapel will take place on Saturday 22nd June at 11am. The blessing of graves at Southgate Cemetery (Waterfall Road) will also take place on Saturday 22nd June at 12.30pm.
8AM MASSES
As mentioned last weekend, we will endeavour to keep as many 8am Masses as possible. However, we need to recognise that this will not be possible everyday and certainly not when there is only one priest here (e.g. holidays).
EPISCOPAL ORDINATION
The ordination of Monsignor Jim Curry as Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday 18 June at 12 noon. The main celebrant will be the Cardinal, joined by the other bishops and priests of our diocese. All are welcome at the celebration.
STONE WORK IN THE CHURCH
The builders will be back this week once the stone and cement has dried, to make further progress.
FR FRANCIS WAHLE RIP
Fr Wahle’s Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Marylebone, on Tuesday 4 June at 11.30am.
SUNDAY TEA & COFFEE
Please join us in the hall after 8.30, 9.45 and 11.15 Masses on Sunday morning for refreshments and an opportunity to chat with other parishioners. Thank you to those who run the tea and coffee every week— it is much appreciated!
BERNADETTE CLUB
The next meeting of the Bernadette Club will take place on Thursday 6th June when we look forward to seeing all our members.
OUR LADY OF LOURDES SCHOOL
Our school has applied for a grant from Tesco to upgrade the infant playground. We will be up against other schools and whoever gets the most votes will win £1,500. To vote please ask for the blue token when you shop at Tesco. We will be in local stores—Colney Hatch Lane, Hampden Square, Whetstone and others from April to June—thank you.
