FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the Tenth Sunday of the Year, as we return once more to the season of Ordinary Time following Easter and the big feasts we have celebrated over these last few weeks. Today (Sunday) we bid a fond farewell to Father Johnson and send him off with our prayers and affection. He tells me he is already looking forward to visiting us next year!  Fr Andrew is also away this week, so please be gentle with me! Finally, I have completed six years (two terms) as Dean of Enfield which I think is long enough, so I am very pleased to hand over to Fr Daniel Humphreys, Parish Priest of Enfield Town, as the new dean. We wish him well, and I thank him for taking the reins!

MASS TIMES & PARISH OFFICE
Please note that there are no 8 am Masses this week. The Parish Office will be closed this Friday.

NEW LECTIONARY FOR MASS
The Bishops of England and Wales have authorised for a brand new Lectionary to be published for use in all Masses. This means readings at Mass will remain the same readings, but will be taken from a different translation of the Bible, moving from the Jerusalem Bible, which we have used up to now, to the English Standard Version (Catholic Edition). The change will come into effect on the First Sunday of Advent 2024. This is something of an upheaval as it means our Parish Mass Books will need to be changed and there may be an intermediate period until they are all published. Fr David will give further information in due course, both for readers and the whole parish. There will also be a formation day for all our readers in the autumn so that we are prepared for the change. You can read more about this matter on the websites of the CTS (Catholic Truth Society) and CBCEW (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales).

NEW SOUTHGATE CEMETERY MASS
