FR DAVID WRITES
Today is the solemnity of the apostles Peter and Paul, patron saints of the city and the Church of Rome. Today at all Masses there will be a collection for Peter’s Pence which helps support the Pope’s outreach. We send you all good wishes!
PRIESTS
Please pray for Fr Tom Blackburn, Fr Domagoj Matakovic and Fr Robert Smialek who were ordained to the priesthood yesterday at the cathedral. I am very pleased to tell you that Fr Tom will be joining us here at Our Lady of Lourdes at the end of the summer holidays. He will be able to introduce himself when he arrives but we look forward to welcoming him. At the same time, Fr Andrew will be taking a little break while he awaits a new appointment. We are very grateful to Fr Andrew and wish him well. However, there is plenty of time till we say goodbye. Further information to follow. In the meantime, please keep Fr Andrew and (the new) Fr Tom in your prayers. The Cardinal has asked me to be the Chair of the Catholic Children’s Society (Westminster) in succession to Fr Michael Daley who sadly died recently after a short illness. Fr D.
CARITAS ST JOSEPH’S
This weekend we welcome Caritas St Joseph’s who will be giving a short talk at Mass telling us about Saturday Clubs and how they support individuals with learning disabilities, their families and friends. They will also be looking for new volunteers who are willing to help with Saturday Clubs.
PARISH CENTENARY BOOK
Our special commemorative book, looking back on last year’s parish centenary, and the activities and history of the parish, will be on sale at all Masses. The suggested price £5 each. Many thanks to all who contributed, and special thanks to Edoardo Albert for editing and producing the lovely brochure.
PARISH OFFICE
The office will be closed this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fr David also has a series of meetings and appointments so will not be available. Please bear this in mind. Thank you.
GENERAL ELECTION
This coming Thursday is the day of the General Election. Please note carefully that the entire parish centre, including the hall and associated spaces, will be a polling station. This means it will not be possible to use the parish centre at all for any other activities on that day.
BERNADETTE CLUB MEMBERS
We will meet a day earlier than usual at 2pm on Wednesday 3 July when we look forward to seeing you. A reminder to members: we will be collecting names and payment for our coach trip to Herne Bay, 11 September (£20) and for tickets to Sister Act at Wyllyotts theatre, 19 October (£20).
PARISH AFTERNOON TEA - SUNDAY 21 JULY 2.30 PM
Thank you to all those who have signed up for the Afternoon Tea. The cost is £10 per person. Please put your money in an envelope marked with your name and “Afternoon Tea”, and place in the Presbytery letter box, or hand in to the office during opening hours.
