Jeremiah 33: 14-16
Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord assures his people that he will bring salvation and restoration to the land.

1 Thessalonians 3:12 – 4.2
Paul reminds the Thessalonians of the instructions he gave them on the authority of Jesus the Lord.  If they continue to follow them, their hearts will be confirmed in holiness.

Luke 21: 25-28. 34-36
Jesus looks to the time when he will come again, and tells his disciples to be ready.

Daniel 7: 13-14
The prophet sees a vision of one coming on the clouds of heaven.

Apocalypse 1: 5-8
Jesus is the ruler of the kings of the earth.

John 18: 33-37

Jesus is a King.  He was born for this.


Daniel 12: 1-3

This passage is reckoned to be the earliest explicit mention in the Bible of the virtuous dead rising to everlasting life.

 

Hebrews 10: 11-14.18

Jesus’ offering of himself replaces all the sin offerings of the past.  His sacrifice is the complete answer to the sin of humanity.

 

Mark 13: 24-32

Jesus speaks of the return of the Son of Man in glory, and he insists that his words are true and eternal.

1 Kings 17: 10-16
The prophet Elijah is given water and sustenance by a poor widow and the generous sharing of her meagre resources is rewarded with a miraculous multiplying of food.

Hebrews 9: 24-28
As Christ died to forgive every one of us, we are safe in Christ’s loving forgiveness.

Mark 12: 38-44
Jesus admires the generosity of a poor widow, but criticises the Temple for taking what she cannot really afford.

Apocalypse 7: 2-4. 9-14
John has a vision of a great multitude, clothed in white, standing before the throne of the Lamb.

1 John 3: 1-3
What we are to be in our future life in God’s kingdom has not yet been revealed.

Jesus teaches us about the kingdom of God through the Beatitudes.
