CONFIRMATION CATECHISTS:
Please sign the tear off slip at the bottom of the Newsletter if you would like to help with our Confirmation programme this year.  Please sign the slip even if you helped last year .  Slips may be given to the Priests or posted through the  Presbytery letter box. There will be a meeting for all Confirmation Catechists this Wednesday 7th March at 7 pm.

We now have a group of volunteers who have been trained to provide support to bereaved individuals.  This will be offered automatically to those newly bereaved but if you have been bereaved over the past couple of years and feel you would benefit from this please contact the Parish Office.

FAMILY FAST DAY Friday 2nd March:
By giving something up for Lent and donating the money you save to CAFOD, you can help provide clean water and sanitation for the world’s poorest families.  Envelopes can be found at the back of the Church which you can Gift Aid if you pay tax.  There will be a collection next weekend.

ASH WEDNESDAY:
A day of fasting and abstinence.  Ashes will be distributed at all Masses on Wednesday 22nd February at 8 am, 10 am & 7.30 pm.

LENTEN TALKS:
Understand the origins and services for Holy Week.  Partake in a better and more meaningful way.  First talk will be on Tuesday 28th February at 7.30 pm in the Parish Centre, focusing on ‘Palm Sunday’.  All welcome.

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
Will take place every other Sunday during Lent from 1.30pm – 5.30pm starting Sunday 26th February.  Please add your name to the list in the Church Porch if you are willing to stay for half an hour.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS:
Will take place after 10 am Mass and at 7.30 pm every Friday during Lent.  We are looking for volunteer groups to take the evening service – please add your name to the list in the church porch.

There has been an unexpectedly  large number of applicants this year so a second date for Confirmation has been added on Wednesday 23rd May.  There will be a meeting for Parents on Wednesday 14th March at 7pm.  Names will be drawn to decide which date will be allocated to each Candidate.

JANUARY SALE:
Many thanks to all who supported the sale.  We had a marvellous day and raised £1,450 a great result.  There is a list of prize numbers on the notice board in the Hall Foyer and prizes can be claimed from the office during opening hours.  Many thanks to Janet and John Butterworth for all the work they put into the Sale every year.

PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES:
We are planning to go to Lourdes this year from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th September.  The cost will be £511 per person.  Please indicate your interest by placing your name(s) on the list on the notice board inside the Church, which also contains further details.

This year’s Big Sale will take place this weekend after the Saturday evening Mass and  all Sunday morning Masses.  We have our usual collection of hats, gloves and scarves, plus many other items all at bargain prices as well as lovely homemade cakes.  Please pop in for a bargain.  All proceeds will go towards replacing the Crib figures.

MASS IN HONOUR OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES:
Saturday 11th February at 2pm at Westminster Cathedral.  Archbishop Vincent Nicols will be celebrating the Mass and the Sacrament of the Sick will be administered.

CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S SOCIETY CRIB APPEAL:
Each year the CCS offers practical and emotional support to children and families who are under great personal and financial strain and for whom the overwhelming expectations of Christmas can be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.  The society works with families to relieve their stresses and give them hope for the future.  They also help the children to enjoy their Christmas by providing parties, toys and clothes.  Please help them by supporting the Crib Appeal this year.  Thank you.

CRIB OFFERINGS:
As usual the crib offerings will go to the Catholic Children’s Society.  If you would like to help further donations of high street vouchers and new Children’s toys will also be most welcome.  The Society are also looking for volunteers to deliver these items – if you are able to help please see Fr Vincent – thank you.
